General Operation

There are many things that must be done on a regular basis to keep your business running smoothly. It is not enough to take care of the clients and customers that wander in your business office or sales floor. Some of the general business operations task includes advertising or attracting new clients/customers, insurance and issuing credit and collecting on credit accounts.

General Operation Sub-Categories

Advertising Basics - Most states prohibit false advertising and deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade or commerce. The FTC Act also prohibits deceptive acts or practices, including the false and misleading representation of material facts. False advertising is defined as advertising that is misleading in any material respect, either explicitly or indirectly through representations made in a statement or combination of statements and any failure to reveal material facts.

Insurance Basics - In the absence of insurance, three possible individuals bear the burden of an economic loss; the individual suffering the loss; the individual causing the loss via negligence or unlawful conduct; or lastly, a particular party who has been allocated the burden by the legislature

Credit & Collections - federal and state laws govern the steps that third-party collectors can take. The U.S. Fair Debt Collection Practices Act deals specifically with what debt collectors can and cannot do to try and get your money back.
